Evergreen
Kali Baral: Poem ‘Evergreen’

In my reincarnation,
a tree I’ll be.
From earth’s deep union,
blossoms will rise.
The neighboring birds will
brim with tender affection.
The heavens will bloom—
a house of branch and breath.
Breathing roots, a thousand years,
etched in time’s calendar.
In the melody of wind,
the branches sway,
life whispering everywhere.
I’ve tucked my age
into history’s verse,
cradled softly like a sacred song.
We’ll be green together,
rooted deep in earth’s embrace.
Evergreen in our veins,
we’ll stand—
firm, side by side.
Listen,
in the next life,
we’ll surely be green.
