A poem is a nest
Rita Odeh: ‘A poem is a nest’

Poetry is but
a seed
in a soil exhausted by conflicts,
we plant it..
and it buds into brotherly warmth
and peace.
Poetry is but
the last attempt
to make this world
a safe place
for doves.
Poetry is but
a universal language
that builds bridges
between people;
its medium is sensation,
and its goal is harmony.
Poetry is but
a warm nest,
gathering us in the lap of
Mother Earth,
far from the roar of wars
and strife.
