‘Selecionem-se bons cidadãos docentes’
Nesta terceira década do séc. XXI, uma nova escola se impõe para formar um novo tipo de educador, deve recorrer àqueles cidadãos que reúnam as condições consideradas adequadas, obviamente com a formação especializada para os domínios que vai orientar: «Eu digo que é preciso antes de mais que ele próprio seja um homem ou uma mulher verdadeiros, adultos que atingiram a maior idade, com maturidade afectiva equilibrada, indispensável para tomarem conta de crianças e para a sua relação com elas. É este o ponto fundamental porque não se pode pretender nem esperar formar homens autónomos por pessoas que não sejam elas próprias livres, responsáveis e autónomas. (…) Nestas condições, o educador não pode esperar ter êxito na sua tarefa se não possuir quatro qualidades fundamentais: optimismo pedagógico, imaginação criadora, espírito científico, espírito de equipa.» (GLOTON, 1974:255).
Um novo tipo de formador, está diretamente correlacionado e conduzirá ao bom cidadão docente. Poderá ser, num futuro próximo, este o novo educador, progressivamente extensível a todos os níveis de ensino e formação profissional, que terá toda a autoridade docente para, coniventemente, com o aluno/formando e as instituições, desenvolver os projetos educativos e formativos.
Numa perspetiva de curto prazo e na execução de projetos abrangentes de todas as idades, etnias e estatutos, as qualificações requeridas serão mais exigentes e avançam para um conceito mais profundo, agora designado por bom cidadão docente. Haverá uma evolução de mentalidades, de técnicas, de estratégias e metodologias, a partir do novo tipo de educador.
O bom cidadão docente implica ter características muito específicas, que determinam condutas muito difíceis, designadamente: ser consciencioso, altruísta, civicamente virtuoso, cortês, pacificador e desportista, as quais se podem descrever como: «Ser consciencioso significa ir para além do que está formalmente prescrito para a função. O altruísmo engloba os actos de ajuda a pessoas específicas (docentes, discentes …). A virtude cívica denota a participação responsável na vida da organização. Ser cortês implica agir com tacto, respeito e consideração na relação com os outros. O desportivismo reflecte a tolerância para com situações menos agradáveis e desconfortáveis. Ser pacificador significa agir como moderador de conflitos e zelar pelo ambiente social da escola.» (REGO, 2003:57-58).
A docência exercida por pessoas com tais características recuperará e consolidará, definitivamente, a autoridade, tantas vezes reclamada. Assumir a docência apenas como uma ocupação provisória, como um complemento remuneratório a outras atividades, pode revestir uma atitude de lesa-cidadania.
A atividade docente ganha autoridade, não tanto pela apresentação de um diploma de licenciatura e/ou especialização, direcionada para a educação/formação, mas também por uma conduta docente irrepreensível, paradigmática dos princípios, valores, sentimentos e atitudes, a partir da qual a comunidade lhe atribua, espontânea e responsavelmente, essa autoridade, à qual adere sem nenhuma oposição.
Selecionem-se, então, bons-cidadãos docentes, para bons-educadores docentes. Parece ser este o caminho a seguir para um novo tipo de educador intercultural que, simultaneamente, congregue em si o cidadão, a pessoa humana revestida da dignidade que lhe pertence.
