Manifestação reúne coletivos, acadêmicos e indígenas contra projeto da Marginal Direita do Rio Sorocaba
Manifestação realizada na manhã do último dia 21 de março, em Sorocaba, reuniu ativistas, acadêmicos, lideranças indígenas e representantes do poder público em um ato contra o projeto de construção da chamada Marginal Direita do Rio Sorocaba. O encontro ocorreu nas proximidades da antiga Usina Cultural, junto à ponte Padre Madureira, e foi marcado por uma roda de conversa voltada à conscientização ambiental e à valorização do rio.
A mobilização contou com a presença da vereadora Fernanda Garcia, além dos acadêmicos Reinaldo Galhardo, Adilene Ferreira Carvalho Cavalheiro e Carlos Carvalho Cavalheiro, este último doutorando em Comunicação e Cultura pela Universidade de Sorocaba (Uniso) e bolsista do CNPq, vinculado ao Observatório de Desenvolvimento da Região Metropolitana de Sorocaba, com pesquisas voltadas a múltiplas leituras sobre o Rio Sorocaba.
Um dos pontos centrais do encontro foi a participação de indígenas da etnia Guarani Mbya, vindos da Aldeia Guarani Gwyra Pepo, sob a liderança de William Karaipopygua. Contatados pelo jornalista Rafael Franco, os indígenas guarani fizeram questão de participar do movimento. Em uma roda de conversa iniciada por volta das 10h30 e estendida até aproximadamente 12h30, os participantes compartilharam reflexões sobre ancestralidade, espiritualidade e a relação de cuidado com a natureza, destacando a importância da preservação dos biomas e dos recursos hídricos.
Organizado pelo coletivo Justiça Climática em parceria com a organização Floresta Cultural, o ato também contou com a presença de outros grupos e movimentos sociais, como Evolução Sustentável, Resistência Sorocaba, Movimento Negro, Raízes de Sorocaba e Fruto Urbano, ampliando o caráter plural da mobilização.
De acordo com os organizadores, o evento foi motivado pela preocupação com os impactos ambientais do projeto da Marginal Direita, que prevê a supressão de uma área significativa de vegetação — estimada em cerca de 80 mil metros quadrados —, além de possíveis consequências como o aumento de enchentes e a intensificação de ilhas de calor na cidade.
Divulgado nas redes sociais com o lema “O futuro é ancestral”, o encontro também teve caráter solidário, com arrecadação de mantimentos destinados à comunidade indígena participante.
Para os presentes, a manifestação representou mais do que um ato de resistência: foi um espaço de escuta, troca de saberes e construção coletiva de consciência ambiental. Ao trazer à centralidade as vozes indígenas e o conhecimento ancestral, o evento reforçou a necessidade de repensar modelos de desenvolvimento urbano e de fortalecer iniciativas que conciliem crescimento com preservação.
