Carbono Galeria inaugura exposição ‘Explorando a cor: uma década de impressões e múltiplos’, de Carlos Cruz-Diez

O evento de abertura aconteceu no sábado 28/10, celebrando o ano do centenário do artista venezuelano e 10 anos de existência da galeria
No último sábado, 28/10, a Carbono Galeria, fundada por Ana Serra e Renata Castro e Silva, inaugurou a exposição Explorando a cor: uma década de impressões e múltiplos, de Carlos Cruz-Diez. O evento reuniu amigos, artistas, curadores e apreciadores de arte para celebrar o centenário do artista venezuelano e os 10 anos de existência da galeria.
Elaborada em parceria com a fundação que leva seu nome, a exposição reúne 33 gravuras além de nove esculturas produzidas nos últimos 10 anos de vida do artista, que completaria 100 anos em 2023.
Com curadoria de Carlota Perez-Appelbaum, consultora da Fundação Cruz-Diez, a exposição propõe uma viagem íntima por meio de experimentações do artista que teve uma carreira prolífica. O visitante poderá contemplar cromografias da Série Panam (2010), que destacam as infinitas possibilidades das formas retangulares, conceito também explorado em trabalhos da série Induction Chromatique Caribeña, de 2018, feitos um ano antes do artista falecer em 2019.
“Através de técnicas meticulosas, como a serigrafia, a litografia e a impressão a laser, Cruz-Diez transformou o plano bidimensional num parque de diversões para os sentidos. Cada impressão, tal como um instrumento afinado, envolve o espectador numa sinfonia visual que dança graciosamente diante dos seus olhos, explorando as interações das cores de uma forma que desafia e encanta a mente”, diz a curadora Carlota Perez Appelbaum.
A cor não é algo estático, mas sim um fenômeno espacial dinâmico. Um exemplo notável disso pode ser observado em “Indução ao Amarelo – Oficina 4 (2012)”, parte da série “Indução Cromática” do artista. Segundo a curadora, nesta obra, o espectador experimenta um efeito óptico duplo: de perto, é possível discernir intrincadas formas geométricas formadas por linhas paralelas em azul, preto e branco. No entanto, ao se afastar, as linhas diminuem de tamanho, revelando uma tonalidade amarela que cria uma experiência virtual tão vívida quanto as cores da superfície.
Além dos trabalhos em papel, provenientes da Fundação Cruz-Diez, as séries de edições limitadas apresentadas nesta exposição incluem esculturas e objetos manipuláveis que permitem aos espectadores explorarem a cor em três dimensões e em uma escala íntima. Para a sócia-fundadora da Carbono, Renata Castro e Silva, “É muito especial celebrar dez anos com uma exposição de Carlos Cruz-Diez, um dos principais nomes do movimento cinético, junto a Julio Le Parc, Jesús Rafael Soto e Abraham Palatnik. A obra de Cruz-Diez é um marco da arte moderna, a interação entre cores e movimento desperta muita identificação com o público brasileiro”, ressalta a galerista.
Se a arte transcende os limites convencionais e possibilita a expansão das dinâmicas entre cor e luz por meio dos sentidos, Explorando a cor: uma década de impressões e múltiplos oferece também uma experiência tátil e interativa que mostra como disposições espaciais, ilusões ópticas e os jogos de cores são características da obra de Cruz-Diez.
Sobre o artista
Carlos Cruz-Diez nasceu em 17 de agosto de 1923 em Caracas, na Venezuela. Seu encantamento pela cor começou quando frequentava a pequena fábrica de garrafas de refrigerante de seu pai, onde o jovem explorou os reflexos de luz e cor causados pelo sol nos vidros. Desde criança, demonstrou uma paixão pelo desenho e, apesar de receber repreensões dos professores na escola, seus pais o incentivaram a explorar as artes.
Em 1940, ingressou na Escola de Artes Plásticas e Aplicadas, onde obteve seu diploma como professor de arte, profissão que exerceu até os 70 anos. Na juventude, Cruz-Diez trabalhou como ilustrador e designer gráfico para a revista El Farol, além de colaborar com diversas publicações alternativas. Durante esse período, ele também criou quadrinhos para vários jornais venezuelanos e se envolveu com trabalhos publicitários.
A partir de 1954, começou a se interessar por arte abstrata, desenvolvendo uma série de projetos de murais externos com elementos geométricos. Na década seguinte, em 1965, sua carreira se solidifica no exterior com a participação na exposição antológica “The Responsive Eye”, no Museu de Arte Moderna de Nova Iorque (MoMA) – evento que consagrou o movimento da arte cinética. Sua obra encontra-se em coleções permanentes de museus renomados, como o Museu de Arte Moderna de Nova York (MoMA), a Tate Modern em Londres, e o Centro Georges Pompidou em Paris, entre outros. Em 2005, fundou a Fundação Cruz-Diez com o objetivo de preservar, desenvolver e difundir o seu legado artístico e conceitual.
Sobre a Carbono
Ao longo de uma década, a Carbono lançou mais de 400 edições de mais de 200 artistas nacionais e internacionais. Única galeria brasileira a trabalhar exclusivamente com múltiplos, realizou no início do ano uma exposição comemorativa com múltiplos de 10 artistas convidados, entre eles Vik Muniz, Regina Silveira, Sonia Gomes, Artur Lescher, Julio Le Parc e Paulo Pasta. “Completar uma década é um reconhecimento da importância de uma galeria como a nossa que democratiza e facilita o acesso a um trabalho de arte contemporânea de qualidade”, afirma Ana Serra, sócia-fundadora da galeria.
As edições são obras produzidas em séries limitadas em diversos suportes, como escultura, objeto, gravura, fotografia, vídeo e até instalação. Na Carbono, esses trabalhos são criados a partir de uma cuidadosa curadoria e com o rígido controle e certificação de autenticidade. Assim, a instituição contribuiu para derrubar o preconceito em torno dessas tiragens criando oportunidades para a formação de novos colecionadores e a ampliando o mercado artístico. Ao apresentar múltiplos de artistas consolidados, a galeria também aumenta o acesso à produção criativa do artista e torna acessível para o público, trabalhos que antes seriam inatingíveis.
