Irene da Rocha: Poema ‘Cicatrizes da guerra’
Nas manhãs em que o Sol nascia a brilhar,
Hoje resta só pó e pranto a ocultar;
O vento chora uma fria melodia,
Cantando o fim de uma era de poesia.
As flores tornaram-se em tom de cinza,
Os risos, ecos de uma lembrança que finda;
O homem, na própria ruína erguida,
Fez do mundo um teatro de partida.
Mães perderam os doces abraços,
Crianças, o amanhã e todos os laços;
E o céu, coberto de frios estilhaços,
Ignora os dias claros e os antigos mares de rosas.
Que glória brota da devastação,
Se o preço pago é sangue e nação?
Nenhum hino cura a perdição
Da paz que o medo levou do coração.
Mas entre ruínas renasce a vida,
Semente lançada em terra ferida;
Pois, mesmo após a dor consumida,
O amor persiste razão retida.
